Second-inning rally sparks win for the Pacific Indians Varsity, 16-6
The Pacific Indians Varsity beat Hermann (MO) 16-6 in five innings on Monday at Pacific after a nine-run explosion in the second inning.
The Pacific Indians Varsity scored in the second on a walk by Lucas Zurliene, an RBI single by Reid Dauster, an RBI single by Lucas Vandaveer, a walk by Justen Ehlts, a two-run double by Matt Strong, an RBI double by Lane Smith, and a two-run home run by Hunter Finney.
Finney racked up three RBIs on two hits for the Pacific Indians Varsity.
Blake Coleman recorded the win for the Pacific Indians Varsity. He allowed two runs over two innings. Coleman struck out two, walked one and gave up one hit.
The Pacific Indians Varsity easily handled Hermann pitching as nine hitters combined for 14 hits, 16 RBIs and 14 runs scored.
Moeckli took the loss for Hermann . He allowed 16 runs in four innings, walked 10 and struck out one.
The Pacific Indians Varsity stayed on top until the final out after taking the lead in the first, scoring five runs on a two-run double by Ehlts and a three-run home run by Austin Muich.
After pushing across three runs in the top of the second, Hermann faced just a 5-4 deficit. A two-run single by Racherbaumer and a sacrifice fly by Schroer set off Hermann rally. Finally, Ehlts induced an inning-ending fly out from Lane.
The Pacific Indians Varsity built upon their lead with two runs in the third. A single by Ehlts ignited the offense,, bringing home Dauster. That was followed up by Finney’s single, plating Strong.
