Austin Muich hits and pitches the Pacific Indians Varsity to 11-1 victory
An impressive two-way performance from Austin Muich led the Pacific Indians Varsity to a 11-1 win Thursday over Union (MO), as Muich came up huge at the dish and on the mound.
Muich racked up four RBIs on two hits for the Pacific Indians Varsity. He homered in the first inning and doubled in the third inning.
Muich kept contact to a minimum, striking out five Union batters. Muich allowed one earned run on five hits and two walks over five innings.
Six runs in the opening three innings allowed the Pacific Indians Varsity to easily put away Union . A sacrifice fly by Lucas Zurliene and a three-run home run by Muich in the first inning supplied the early offense for the Pacific Indians Varsity.
Reed took the loss for Union . He lasted just 1 1/3 innings, walked three, struck out three, and allowed five runs.
The Pacific Indians Varsity tacked on another two runs in the third. Muich doubled, scoring Lucas Zurliene to start the inning. That was followed up by Lucas Vandaveer’s single, bringing home Jake Meininger.
The Pacific Indians Varsity scored one run of their own in the fourth. The Pacific Indians Varsity scored on a bases loaded walk by Reed.
The Pacific Indians Varsity increased their lead with four runs in the fifth. The inning looked promising, as Matt Strong singled, bringing home Lucas Vandaveer and Justen Ehlts to kick things off. That was followed up by Strong’s single, plating Lucas Vandaveer and Ehlts.
